Agar-agar is a gelling agent. It is a vegan substitute for gelatin. This is an imported Malaysian agar-agar which offers the best gelling strength compared to any other gelling agent. Agar-agar, unlike gelatin, can set at room temperature, and keeps its shape on warm days as well. Mainly used in making desserts, puddings, jelly, marmalades. Apart from culinary application it is also used for medicinal purposes as it has many health benefits like it helps patients suffering from obesity, loss of bone density and constipation. How to use AGAR AGAR? The most important thing to know is that agar-agar needs to be first dissolved in water (or another liquid like milk, fruit juices) and then brought to a boil. It will set as the ingredients cool down. Agar-agar has no taste, no odor and no color, which makes it pretty convenient to use. You can add food colors and flavoring to your dessert. It sets more firmly than gelatin. Powdered agar-agar is the easiest to use. You stir it into the liquid that needs to be gelled and bring to a boil. It dissolves quite easily. This imported agar agar is strong and have higher gel strength thus used very less in quantity. It only takes 4 grams of agar agar powder to 1 liter of liquid to gel.
